Having grown up in a Danish-Arabic Muslim family, the power of the hymen is not unfamiliar to me. I know the rules of the game and am now married into a Pakistani family.

I am trained as a nurse and a social worker as well as being a certified educator. I work as a Consultant affiliated with mindlift.net, Author and Speaker.

I have published a book in Danish entitled Mødom på mode, a collection of stories about traditions and taboos among ethnic minorities, for which I was nominated for Danish weekly newspaper Weekendavisen's literary award. (Gyldendal, Copenhagen, 2007)

In 2008 I received HKs Integrationspris - an award for integration presented by the Danish shop- and office-workers union HK

I have previously worked as a research assistant and social counsellor at Center for Voldtægtsofre, the rape crisis centre at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, where I developed and executed the information campaign Løft sløret for seksuelle overgreb - Unveiling Sexual Assault - targeting ethnic minorities and professionals.
